7QT's

{1}I'm so cold right now. The fireplace is puttering along, but it is a little windy and unless there's a roaring fire going, the house smells a little like smoke. So I either need to get a roaring fire going so we can sit in front of it and warm up, or just add more layers.

{2}Soccer practices have begun; 5 kids playing=soccer practice 4days a week=five games to watch on weekends=lots of fun!

{3}I have taught my children to not wipe off the ashes on their foreheads received at Mass. So when I look over and see the sisters trying to wipe ashes of the oldest, I just about had to snap my fingers (the universal sign for "LOOK AT MOM" when in church). When they moved so I could see her, the poor thing had a cross on her forehead from her hair-line down the bridge of the nose.

{4}One of the things we have given up for Lent is snacking. I had no idea how much we snacked.

{5}Why, this may be a bit too much...why does toddler poop sometimes smell like it should belong to a grown man, and why am I cleaning it off a little bum? Shouldn't the life rule be, once your bodily waste could pass for a grown man, you clean yourself up?

{6}I think I may be annoying my family by asking specific questions about the care of my Grandpa. But I'm thinking I would want someone like to me to advocate for me. Sometimes you have to dig a little to get a good solid answer. Sometimes you have to do some explaining to make sure everyone understands the whole picture. And sometimes, people need to stop and think about what they are doing and what is being said to make sure nothing is getting lost in the cracks, or missed in translation.

{7}Tonight we are having Crab Bisque for dinner:

1/4C butter
1/4C flour

Heat in pot until bubbly, stirring constantly (unless you have small children and then occasionally seems to work fine). Remove from heat and add:

2C tomato juice
1C heavy whipping cream
1C milk
1/2t worchestire sauce
4 drops red pepper sauce

Reheat to low boil for 1 minute stirring constantly (unless you are gathering the rest of the ingredients, then occasionally seem to work just fine). Add:

3T sherry (I buy cooking sherry at walmart, in the dressing aisle)
crab meat (either a can or we prefer the packaged (cooked) in the seafood section)
Heat, but do not boil.

Thanks Jennifer
