Lord, I confess my sins, not to increase Your love for me but to increase my love for You. And the more I confess, the more sins I have to confess. Not because I sin more but because I am more aware of my faults and bad habits that lead me to sin.
Your love illuminates the recesses of me. Like at night, when a flashlight shines into the darkness and the grass is a mess of tiny spider webs, unseen in the broad daylight. So it is with my heart which may appear clean, until the light of Your love reveals the webs of bad habit, selfishness, and secret faults. Left to themselves, these unseen webs will become like a covering of death.
My weariness comes when I lie, unconfessed, my weariness is rooted in neglect. But as soon as I open wide, lay it all out, You take the burden Lord and I humbly follow Your lead. You keep Your eye upon me as You instruct me in righteousness. You love me as You give me right counsel.
Your steadfast love is all encompassing and gives me the strength to continue. And I do continue, in Your love, and my spirit rejoices.
Please join me as I pray my way through the Psalms...

Hi Jenny. Today's psalm is so beautiful, giving hope to the sinner and telling us the proper disposition to change our lives. The light on the spiderwebs in the grass at night is a great analogy for what happens in the spiritual life. So true. God bless you and thanks for hosting this meme.
