He is my refuge and my strength, when I quit looking to myself or others...am I the only one, please tell me I'm not? Is it bad habit formation? Is that why I struggle so much some times, because of my knee-jerk reaction to look toward self rather than Almighty God? And as I'm busy looking, searching, struggling...He's waiting
Be still and know that I am God. I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge (fortress).
†Psalm 46:10-11
All is changing, except God. My hope should lie in Him. Let me be bold, my hope lies in Him!
Please consider joining me each week as I pray my way through the Psalms. Just a simple meditation, a prayer, a reflection, even an Amen...so be it.
For your consideration...I have recently begun using the acronym S.O.A.P. in my daily Bible reading. I came across this method of reading, meditating and praying with the Scriptures at Mom's Tool Box. (You can also google it for more information.) This may be a helpful starting place in praying through the Psalms with me.
Scripture
Observation
Application
Prayer
Using the example of Psalm 46:
•I read the Scripture passage
•I go back to a verse that struck me. What is my observation about this particular verse? What made it stick out to me?
•How does that verse apply to me or how could I apply that verse to my life right now?
•I use that verse in my prayer, my conversation, with my heavenly Father.

SOAP is an interesting idea. We're cleaning our souls when we meditate on sacred scripture, are we not?
ReplyDeleteLinking late again but better than never, right? I met Amy at the Relevant Conference in October- sweet girl. I am joining her in reading the Bible in 90 days that starts in January!
ReplyDeleteThanks for continuing to host. I just read your post from Monday and I also wanted to comment that your voice and wisdom would be sorely missed in the blog world!
