God the Father in Heaven, I offer to Thee all my thoughts words and actions...
The enemies of time, self, pride, sloth, anger begin early and I am afraid I will not be able: to get out of the warm bed and start my day, have enough time to do all I feel like I need to do, be all to everyone who crosses my path, discipline in the moment with a kind heart and gentle words, have some time for myself, make time for You...
And I sing a little song I learned on the kid's Cd, Hide 'Em in Your Heart Vol. 1; "When I am afraid I will trust in You, I will trust in You, I will trust in You, When I am afraid I will trust in You in God whose Word I praise." {vs 3-4} Taken straight from the Psalms and I sing it quietly in my head because I need to remember.
I remember the black eye my little guy got a few weeks ago while riding a Flying Turtle, and You remember my hurts. I think of the scrapes and falls that cause big tears in little people, and you keep a record of my tears; the ones I cry when the frustration and fear just seem to get the best of me; the unknown tears I hide.
Verse 9 becomes a battle cry for the day, for the life of joy I am actively pursuing
This I know, that God is for me
The day began with an offering of all I think, say and do. I also offer You my praise and thanksgiving. You have delivered me from death, kept me from falling...You have kept me in the light of Your love. You are showing me a life of joy, in You.
Will you consider joining me this year as I pray my way through the Psalms? "Prayer is conversation with God; the intercourse of the soul with God, not in contemplation or meditation, but in direct address to him. Prayer may be oral or mental, occasional or constant, ejaculatory or formal. It is a “beseeching the Lord” (Ex. 32:11); “pouring out the soul before the Lord” (1 Sam. 1:15); “praying and crying to heaven” (2 Chr. 32:20); “seeking unto God and making supplication” (Job 8:5); “drawing near to God” (Ps. 73:28); “bowing the knees” (Eph. 3:14)." {excerpt from Christian Answers.net}

I like "This I know, that God is for me". When we are going through serious trials, He is for us and with us. Thanks for hosting this meme.
ReplyDeleteA hearty AMEN!
ReplyDelete(That little tune was the first thing to pop into my head when I read this psalm today :)
"Every moment a choice must be made on how to respond," and how much better when your heart is prepared, when you know God is for you...so you can be for the ones you love.
